SUMMARY:2025 Legislative & Leadership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NCHER will hold its annual Legislative and Leadership Meeting on March 3-4\, 2025 in Washington\, DC. This important event will be one of the first opportunities to hear from new leaders in the Trump Administration and new leadership on the House Education and Workforce Committee and Senate Health\, Education\, Labor\, and Pensions Committee on their priorities impacting the higher education finance industry. Similar to last year\, the meeting will be focused on providing important and timely sessions on the political and policy environment in Congress and the Administration with ample opportunities for our members to meet with their Congressional delegations on Capitol Hill. So\, Register Today! The NCHER Board of Directors and staff have been hard at work putting together the draft program agenda for this “can’t-miss” event. The current agenda includes: \nNew White House/U.S. Department of Education officials who have been invited to discuss the priorities of the Trump Administration over the first 100 days and the outlook for higher education in 2025. \nA Congressional staff panel where House and Senate staff will discuss the priorities of the Republican and Democratic leadership in the 119th Congress and whether there are consensus areas for enactment of improvements to federal and private student aid programs. \nConservative and progressive thought-leaders who have been invited to discuss their priorities for improving federal higher education policy and share their thoughts on current efforts moving through Congress and the regulatory process. \nTwo timely sessions focused on fostering connections between higher education and workforce development. First\, the meeting will examine the current and future state of the American workforce\, including opportunities that exist to reform postsecondary education to expand skills-based hiring. Then\, the meeting will examine how states\, in partnership with the private sector\, can strengthen their workforce by expanding registered apprenticeships\, establishing career pathways\, providing supportive services\, and addressing demand in critical industries either through the creation of short-term loan programs or short-term Pell Grants. \nA session reviewing recent research on postsecondary education and discussing current and anticipated trends at the public and private institutional level. \nEngaging sessions discussing the recent and anticipated actions of the Federal Reserve and the impact that declining interest rates are having on federal and private student lending\, and examining the outlook for tax reform in the 119th Congress\, including those high priority issues for both Congressional Republicans and the Trump Administration that are currently driving the conversation at the federal level and the likelihood of higher education-related proposals making it into the final version. \nMultiple opportunities to meet with your Congressional delegation on Capitol Hill and federal agencies. \nOnce you finish registering for the meeting and taking advantage of the early bird rate of $750 for members\, be sure to make your reservations at The Morrow Washington\, DC for a guaranteed room rate of $319 per room\, per night – online or by calling 202-280-2288. \nWe look forward to seeing you in Washington\, DC! \n** Sponsorship opportunities are available for the conference.
