ADVOCACY & FEDERAL POLICY

What Are We Advocating For?

NCHER and its staff believe in strong and robust advocacy at the federal level. The organization is in constant contact with members of the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate, White House, U.S. Department of Education, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, think-tanks, thought-leaders, institutions of higher education, and others, advocating for policy that is ultimately in the best interest of students and families. NCHER wants to play a role in envisioning what postsecondary education, including federal, state, and private student loan policy, looks like for future generations. NCHER stands ready to assist federal policymakers as they determine what initiatives should be adopted through the upcoming budget reconciliation process, the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, the budget and appropriations process, or through any legislative vehicle to improve college access and success.

If you have any questions or if NCHER can provide additional information, please contact Vicki Shipley, Interim President of NCHER, at vshipley@ncher.org or (202) 822-2106.
