2026 Fall Legal Meeting

Back by popular demand, NCHER is pleased to announce the return of the Fall Legal Meeting, taking place Thursday, October 22, at the offices of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in Dallas, Texas. We are grateful to Bradley for once again hosting this premier gathering of legal, compliance, and policy leaders from across the higher education finance ecosystem.

 

The legal and regulatory landscape has changed dramatically since our last Fall Legal Meeting. The Department of Education continues to navigate the implementation of H.R. 1’s sweeping higher education reforms, the Department of Treasury has accelerated efforts to rebuild the federal student loan collections infrastructure, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has undergone significant leadership and operational changes. At the same time, states continue to expand their role through new consumer protection laws, licensing requirements, privacy regulations, and oversight of student lending, servicing, and collections.

 

Against this backdrop, legal and compliance professionals face an increasingly complex environment that demands both strategic insight and practical guidance. This year’s program will explore the most pressing issues affecting higher education finance, including federal and state regulatory developments, CFPB and state attorney general enforcement trends, artificial intelligence governance, private education lending compliance, student loan servicing and collections, and emerging legal risks across the postsecondary finance landscape.

For attendees attending in person, you will need to make your own hotel reservations. There are several hotels within walking distance of the law firm. A non-exclusive list is provided below. This will be a one-day meeting that will start around 8:30 am and end around 4:00 pm Central Daylight Time. The registration fee for in-person is $450 for members and $600 for non-members and the cost or virtual attendance will be $350 for members and $500 for nonmembers. So register today!
