UNDERSTANDING AND PROMOTING STUDENT FINANCIAL WELLNESS

The report released by Trellis Company and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board found that nearly 60 percent of students struggle to find $500 in cash or credit for an emergency expense. It also found that 96% of higher education institutions that responded to the survey, provide financial wellness services to students.

Transfer enrollment fell 10 percent overall this spring, the largest year-over-year decline observed during the pandemic. Non-transfer enrollment also declined but not as steeply (-6.5%).

A 2016 study on improving communication with student loan borrowers finds that mobile devices are the most effective tool to reach struggling borrowers.
